Laser periodontal treatment
Laser therapy is a cutting-edge treatment approach for periodontal disease. It is used in conjunction with planing and root scaling to treat teeth affected by periodontal pockets.
At Dentavital Oral Health Centre, we utilize two types of lasers, the Fotona LightWalker AT S and the postoperative TwinLight, enabling us to:
- Safely remove the inflamed tissues in periodontal pockets, facilitating access to the tooth root.
- Effectively remove both soft and hard plaque buildup on the tooth roots.
- Minimize bleeding and enhance blood coagulation to promote rapid reattachment of the gum tissue to the tooth.
- Laser treatments also result in less pain and swelling compared to traditional methods.
In addition, we also utilize the Elexxion nano laser in conjunction with perio green® photodynamic therapy. During this procedure, a photosensitizer, perio green® dye, is first injected into the periodontal pockets. The dye stains the walls of periodontally harmful bacteria, and a photochemical reaction is triggered using the laser, causing the harmful bacteria to break down.
This significantly reduces the necessity for surgical intervention.
