Oral hygiene
Good oral hygiene is a essential for healthy teeth and gums. It prevents the formation of tartar, caries, periodontal tissue diseases and bad breath.
Good oral health requires a combination of daily brushing and flossing, as well as regular visits to the dentist for preventive examinations and professional tartar removal.
What is tartar?
Dental plaque starts to accumulate on teeth shortly after brushing. Plaque is a soft, colorless, sticky deposit that forms on our teeth, primarily composed of food particles, bacteria, and their metabolic byproducts.
Regular brushing and flossing can effectively remove plaque, but with inadequate oral hygiene, it mineralizes within 48 hours and transforms into a hardened form known as calculus or tartar, which cannot be removed with standard brushing or flossing.
Professional removal by a dentist is necessary to effectively eliminate tartar buildup.
The process of removing tartar
We start by removing tartar using an ultrasonic instrument. The ultrasonic instrument vibrates at a high frequency and, along with the water, effectively removes tartar from the tooth’s surface, while also maintaining a suitable temperature of the tooth.
This is followed by cleaning your teeth with air abrasion. We use a special device which sprays a mixture of water and baking soda powder at high pressure, to effectively remove any remaining stains and soft deposits on tooth surfaces and between teeth.
After the removal of tartar and stains, we polish the teeth to smooth their surface.
After undergoing a thorough professional tartar removal and teeth polishing, not only will your teeth be clean, but they will also be smoother, allowing for easier maintenance of oral hygiene at home.
